Reminder: New Production MVS DB2 Subsystem Being ImplementedUser Involvement Wanted
The Computing Facilities Branch (CFB) will be implementing a new DB2 subsystem for production applications and has begun meeting with users to obtain requirements.
The new production DB2 subsystem will provide significant benefits to users in performance, system maintenance, and quality control. In addition, CFB will be implementing the production subsystem using DB2 Version 4, which has many new enhancements including stored procedures, row level locking, read-through locks, and the SQL OUTER JOIN operation. Users will be able to use one DB2 subsystem for development and test, while running their production applications in a new separate subsystem.
It is not too late to provide input. Users who have, or are planning to have, production (especially enterprise-wide) database applications are urged to contact the Database Technologies Unit to become involved.
