Automatic Backup/Recovery ServiceUpdate
Many people have expressed interest in the NIH-wide automatic backup/recovery service that is scheduled to become a production facility on October 1st (see the article in INTERFACE 195).
DCRT is currently "tuning" the system to further enhance performance and minimize times for backup and recovery. One of the areas where some users have experienced delays is in recovering files that have migrated to tape storage or in backing up large files (over 1 MB). Work is currently underway to implement an automated tape library (ATL) as part of this backup/recovery service to eliminate these delays. DCRT expects to have the ATL integrated by the October production date.
