ISPF Version 4.2 Now Production

On April 29, 1996, ISPF version 4 release 2 became the production version of ISPF (Interactive System Productivity Facility) at the NIH Computer Center.

ISPF—an interactive system that runs under TSO on the MVS mainframe—is an application manager for user-written applications that also provides a full-screen editor and numerous programmer productivity tools.

As announced in INTERFACE 195, ISPALLOC—used by ISPF users to allocate ISPF system and user libraries—has been modified:

• ISPALLOC now points to a new ISPF system CLIST library, NIH.ISPF.CLISTS

• the parameter SYSP has been added to allow users to allocate their own ISPF CLIST libraries through ISPALLOC

  If your @TSO.PROFILE.CLIST currently frees and reallocates SYSPROC, you should remove these statements and use the SYSP parameter to allocate any user CLIST libraries.

The Preface Has Been Updated

The preface, Using ISPF at NIH, has been updated with information and CLIST exampls pertinent to this version of ISPF. In addition, this preface now includes information on FileAID and MVS/QuickRef, the new "pop-up" quick reference tool now available in ISPF.
