Test Your PL/I Programs Before the New PL/I Compiler Becomes Production on July 15

The PL/I MVS & VM version 1 release 1.1 compiler will replace the MVS System's PL/I Optimizing Compiler on July 15, 1996. Users who have not tested their PL/I programs are strongly advised to test as soon as possible before the new version of PL/I goes production.

Have You Tested Your PL/I Programs ?

Start testing now—the opportunity to test your programs is running out. The WYLBUR public dataset, &PUBLIC.PLI, contains the information on how to access the new compiler for testing your PL/I programs, as well as other information.

The results of some user testing have been posted to the PLI-L LISTSERV list, first described in INTERFACE 193. If you are responsible for PL/I programs, make use of this LISTSERV list to keep up with the latest developments.

PL/I users wishing to subscribe to this list should send E-mail to listserv@list.nih.gov. The body of the mail should be:

subscribe PLI-L firstname lastname

where "firstname" and "lastname" are your first and last names, not your E-mail address.

Questions about PL/I and Problems with Testing

If you have questions about the PL/I compiler upgrade or PL/I testing, post to the PLI-L LISTSERV list or call TASC at 301-594-DCRT. If you experience any problems with your PL/I testing, please submit a critical PTR.

Multitasking will not be available at the time this new PL/I compiler goes production, but it will be supported when the MVS operating system is upgraded later this year.
