• SILK RACF is available for all registered users. *

• WYLBUR’s new, enhanced—Year 2000 compliant—date functions are in effect. *

• MVS &PUBLIC data sets are available via SILK Web. *

• "Web of Science" and "Porpoise" are available for searches in the scientific literature. These powerful, Web-based search facilities replace some of the functions of NIH Gopher, which has retired.

• Control-T is now production. *

• The NIHCU node is no longer part of BITNET.

• MVS North system operations coverage is now 24 hours, 7 days a week. §

• TMS Version 5.2 is now production. §

• MVS North system now has access to SILK Web technology. §

• Enterprise Oracle licenses can still be purchased from DCRT for a variety

March 31 • DCRT support for the ADSM DOS client used for NBARS (NIH Backup and Recovery Service will be discontinued. 
 
• The Convex system (coil.nih.gov) will be decommissioned. The system and users’ scientific applications will be running on newer, faster SGI Challenge and SGI PowerChallenge computers. 
 
April 6  • TCPaccess is scheduled to become the production version.
• PC/TCP and OnNet 32-bit upgrades will be available on the Web.

June 14  Several WYLBUR commands will be retired. Enter Training and Enter Eguide facilities have Web equivalents
 
June 30  Oracle will drop support for SQL*Forms 3.0. §
 
August 3 TSPRINT will completely replace EPS network printing. *
 
August 9  WYLBUR’s Enter Sponsor will no longer be available. *
 
October 1 Charges begin for applications using Disaster Recovery Services. * §
 
DB2 Version 5 will be available. *

The MVS/ESA operating systems for both the MVS North and South systems will
be upgraded to OS/390 (Version 2, Release 4)—a level that is Year 2000 compliant. * §

The MVS system’s Oracle will be upgraded to 7.3. §
