QWS3270 PLUS Is Now Available for Downloading via the Web
QWS3270 is a telnet application that allows a network-attached PC (running Windows) to connect to an IBM mainframe using the Windows Sockets interface in 3270 mode (TN3270). The application was designed to take full advantage of the point and click capabilities of the Windows environment.
Under CIT's site license, QWS3270 PLUS (the commercial version) is available at no charge to all registered users. You can now download this robust version from the MVS North system webpage at http://silkad.nih.gov/.
Please note: be sure to read the "Readme.txt" file that contains configuration instructions.
Downloading Is Easy via the Web
Open your web browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) and enter the following address http://silkad.nih.gov. Once at the webpage, click on "QWS3270" from the list of options. Read the license agreement and, if you agree to its terms, click on "Agree." Then:
· read the page of instructions
· create a subdirectory-QWS3270-on your PC
· click on "download" at the bottom of the page to obtain a self-extracting "QWS3270.EXE" file
· change the name of the file from PCC.SQN.@WWW.QWS3270 to QWS3270
· save the file to the newly created QWS3270 subdirectory
Once the file is on your PC, execute the QWS3270.EXE to expand the files.
