MVS Standard System—Update
The NIH Computer Center is still in the planning stages for its MVS standard system. The goal of this project is to reduce NIH’s dependence on homegrown and customized code—so that we will have the flexibility to take advantage of computing advances in the industry, while maintaining the strengths of our current system. We intend to provide a more efficient, reliable and economical system that offers robust commercial products and tools, while sustaining outstanding performance and customer service. Over a period of time, the current North and South systems will be merged into this standard system. We are eager to hear from our user community and plan to give presentations on the plan in the near future. If you have input or are interested in this project, please call TASC and ask to speak to someone about the MVS standard system project.
