CIT’s POP/IMAP Service to Move
For many years, CIT has supported a group of servers to provide e-mail to CIT customers who prefer to use e-mail clients that employ the POP and IMAP protocols. In order to achieve higher efficiency, CIT has decided to transfer the 1,500 POP/IMAP e-mail accounts to the Central Email Service (CES). These accounts will be offered at no direct charge to the customer, thus eliminating the current $4.00 per month fee. The transition will begin this summer.
The transfer is being planned to have a minimal effect on users of the POP/IMAP service. Because CES also supports the POP and IMAP protocols, e-mail clients currently in use will continue to work. However, it is anticipated that some client reconfiguration will be required. Prior to making changes to any e-mail account, CIT will contact users directly and provide guidance on how to make the transition.
