Charging for Wylbur Mail Data Sets to End July 2 on the South System
Beginning July 2, 2000, CIT will stop charging for storage of WYLBUR mail data sets in South system users’ mail boxes. Charging will continue for data sets containing mail that users have otherwise saved (e.g., with the file command).
WYLBUR mail data sets usually require a small amount of storage. However, since users have little control over what is mailed to them, these data sets sometimes can become sizeable. This unpredictability in mail data set sizes has made it difficult for some organizations to project and control costs.
Mail data sets also can become a nuisance when account sponsors and users delete a user’s files to remove charges for them. Since WYLBUR mail data sets are created automatically when mail is received, charges for mail data sets can suddenly reappear if new mail is received.
If you have any questions about WYLBUR mail processing, please call TASC.
