FTP to Be Removed from the South System in November
On November 17, 2003, the File Transfer Protocol facility (FTP) will no longer be available on the South system. The host name for FTP on the South system is ftp.cu.nih.gov.
Since the South system and Titan share all DASD (disk) data, South users are able to transfer data to Titan and still access the data from the South system. The host name for FTP on Titan is ftp.titan.nih.gov.
Anonymous FTP Facility to End
Since anonymous FTP to the mainframe is available only via the South system, the anonymous FTP facility will no longer be available after November 17, 2003.
Moving to the Titan version of FTP entails some command syntax changes. For information on using FTP on Titan, please refer to the Network Access to the Titan System manual (107k PDF). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact TASC at (301) 594-6248.
