Extended Outage on Production System 4 Scheduled for May 20th
The NIH Data Center is in the process of upgrading the mainframe operating system to version 1.7 of z/OS (see Titan News articles of August 31, 2006 and April 9, 2007). Production system 9 (which runs DB2) has already been successfully upgraded.
On May 6th, during the scheduled service outage to upgrade production system 4 (which runs NIHTSO), we ran into problems and had to abort the upgrade. Now everything has been fixed and we are ready to fully upgrade system 4 to the new operating system.
Therefore, we have rescheduled the update of system 4 for Sunday, May 20, 2007. On that day, there will be a complete service outage of approximately 6 hours from 12:01 am to 6:00 am while we install z/OS version 1.7 on production system 4.
